About this blog

This blog is dedicated to a dear friend that lost her battle with Breast Cancer this summer. The purpose of this blog is to challenge anyone and everyone that has been touched by Breast Cancer to stitch at least one pink item between now and October 31st 2009(that gives you just over a year) in remembrance of that person/s. I plan to have the blog featured in a local paper to show our support of Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention. If you would like to take part in this PINK Challenge please email me at steele4@comporium.net
Please include your blog URL in the email if you wish to have it added to the sidebar. Non bloggers are welcome as well-I have a list for those too.

Thank you in advance to all those that join and participate. I look forward to having this blog featured through at least one News Media next year in time for Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention month. Show your support and STITCH PINK!!

I plan to make a contribution to Breast Cancer research/prevention in the name of each member that joins in the challenge. I am also in the process of talking to someone about those that may want to dedicate their stitched item to the cause. I will post details of that when I have them.
This cancer has touched and continues to touch so many of us. I hope that many of you will join us in our STITCH PINK challenge. You may stitch as many pink pieces as you like and post them all to encourage others and members of the blog to take part.
My hope is that in October 2009 our blog SPEAKS VOLUMES to Women and Men everywhere.

If you have a story-please feel free to share as Lisa has done. It helps to convey how REAL this cancer is.

Thank you all again for your support of this blog! You are all so amazing! I'm not surprised though as I know from experience what a giving and loving people stitcher's are!
I have had some really wonderful email in the past hour!

Pink Biscornu

This pink biscornu is stitched in memory of my Aunty Mary who died of breast cancer a few years ago. I will package this up and send it to her only daughter Alison whose birthday is 30 October. Alison is a history academic and I am sure will appreciate the sentiments stitched into this quirky but beautiful design.

Many thanks for the opportunity to participate in this and to remember those in our lives who have suffered this dreadful disease.

A Pink House

I just finished my pink stitch for September. This was such a fun and very quick stitch. It is Prairie Schooler's "Stitch to Win" (Pink House). It is stitched on 28ct. Antique White Cashel Linen with DMC as charted. I finished it as a floss tag and am thrilled with the results.

A Pink Emery

My pink stitch for June is this Emery. I started with a pattern from Anitas Little Stitches "Emery Collection 1". I used other fibers and some pink fabric that I dyed. However, I think the fabric is 32ct and not 28ct so it is a little smaller but it is very cute.

In Memory of My Friend Shari

As you may have read last week, my friend Shari, lost her battle with breast cancer. This month's pink stitch is in memory of her.

I stitched "Loving and Faithful Friend" by Little House Needleworks. It is stitched on 25ct. Light Rose Lugana with Weeks Dye Works Bubble Gum, 1 over 1.

I finished it kind of like a pinkeep adding a pocket on the back to put in her remembrance card and program from the funeral.

I added some pink metallic braid on each side so I could attach it to the outside of my ongoing pink basket.

It turned out just the way I had hoped.
